What
should I wear?
A day at the races is an occasion where smart dress is very much
encouraged.
In the Club Enclosure jackets and ties are not obligatory, but racegoers
wearing scruffy/ripped denim, beachwear, unduly casual, trainers or
extreme attire will not gain entry.
Racegoers in the Tattersalls Enclosure usually dress respectably. Smart
shorts and jeans are acceptable but no bare tops or singlets please.
Dress in the Centre Course/Picnic area is, as you wish.
It is important to dress for the weather and to be aware that some areas
of the course involve walking on grass where shoes with a sturdy or flat
heel are a practical choice.
Dressing up is encouraged for racemeetings such as the Pertemps Cup
Meeting and Ladies Day.
To save embarrassment, please ensure that all members of your party are
aware of the dress code requirements at Stratford Racecourse.
Can I use a
camera?
You may use a camera from the normal public enclosures. However, please
be careful a flash bulb is never used. This can frighten horses and
cause accidents.
Photographs may not be taken for commercial purposes.
Can I leave
luggage belongings somewhere?
There is a left luggage office situated next to the Tote Windows
opposite the Paddock. You are asked to reclaim your belongings within
1/2 an hour after the last race.
Is there a lost
property office?
If you lose or find something call the Racecourse Office - 01789 267949.
Is there a
cash point at the Racecourse?
No. The nearest
cash points are in Stratford-upon-Avon Town Centre.
Timings
The admission gates open two hours prior to the first race time. Bars
close half an hour after the last race. Race times may vary from those
published and it is advisable to check with the course or the website
nearer to the event.
Food & Drink
You are welcome to bring your own picnic in to the Centre Course
Enclosure ONLY. Food and drink may not be brought into any other areas
of the racecourse. There are numerous places to find something to eat,
from fast food snacks to a three course lunch and afternoon tea in the
Paddock Suite Restaurant (a la carte menu); or a meal in the Winning
Post Restaurant (mainly but not exclusively seafood).
Car Parking
The course offers ample free car parking in the public car park, just
outside the Main Gates. There is closer parking for which there is a
charge of £3.00 per car. Preferential parking areas are provided near
the entrances for disabled visitors who are holders of the Blue Badge
parking label.
The Centre Course Car Park is accessible from both the Luddington Road
entrance and the Paddock Lane entrance at a charge of £5.00 per car plus
admission into the course.
Children
Children under 16 years of age are admitted FREE of charge to all
enclosures on all race days when they are accompanied by an adult.
Despatch of
Tickets
Where possible tickets are despatched by post as soon as they are
processed. Badges are not usually despatched more than month ahead of
meetings.
IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT ENCLOSURE BADGES
Please wear your admission badge prominently on your person at all
times, in order to gain access to the Racecourse and to move freely
around the enclosures. Our security staff will ask to see your badge
before you are allowed onto the course.
Disabled
Racegoers
Wheelchair access at the racecourse is good, with access to viewing on
the first floor of the Warwickshire Stand and disabled lavatories in all
enclosures. Preferential parking areas are provided near the entrances
of the public car parks for disabled visitors who are holders of the
Blue Badge parking label. Alternatively why not park in our Centre
Course car park and watch the racing from the comfort of your car...
Dogs
Dogs are permitted in the Centre Course/Picnic area only, and must
always be kept on leads.
Please never
leave your dogs unattended in cars on hot days.
The
Enclosures
Stratford
Racecourse operates a three enclosure system for all of its race
meetings. This enables racegoers to purchase entrance tickets of their
choice from the following options:
Club
Enclosure
This enclosure is open to Annual Members and any racegoer purchasing a
Club Enclosure Badge. Club Enclosure admission entitles you to enjoy a
panoramic view of the Racing from the first floor of the Warwickshire
Stand, and also gives access to the quieter bars. It also allows you
access to all public areas of the racecourse including betting areas,
and view of the Parade Ring and Winner's Enclosure.
Tattersalls
Enclosure
This enclosure provides good race viewing with access to view the Parade
Rings and Winners' Enclosure and to the Centre Course/Picnic Enclosure.
Centre
Course/Picnic Enclosure
This area is especially enjoyed by visitors bringing picnics, barbecues
and children. There are free entertainments for the children at our
summer meetings. In 2007 a new building was opened that offers top class
refreshment facilities, and rest rooms. Centre Course admission allows
patrons to cross the course and view the parade ring.
Transfers between
Enclosures
Racegoers may transfer to a higher priced enclosure on the day, subject
to availability, by paying the appropriate price at one of the ticket
transfer points in the Tattersalls and Centre Course/Picnic Enclosure.
WHERE
TO BET
Betting
Many people enjoy a flutter on the horses as part of their day out at
the races. If you need advice on how to bet ask for guidance at any of
the Tote betting window.
The
Bookmakers
Bookmakers can be found in all the Enclosures. Each bookmaker will
advertise the minimum stake he will accept and the odds offered on each
horse. To place your bet with a bookmaker, state the amount of your
stake, the type of bet, the number and name of the horse e.g. £5 each
way on Number 5, Kauto Star.
The Tote
The Tote, identified by the Tote symbol, can be found in all enclosures.
The system operates by pooling all bets placed on the race and sharing
out the proceeds amongst the winners. Leading up to the race, an
approximation of the current odds will be shown on the Tote screens by
the betting windows. However, the size of the payout will depend on the
amount of money bet. It is also to place bets at other race meetings -
the approximate current odds will also be shown on the Tote screens.
To place your bet with the Tote, state the amount of your stake, the
type of bet, and number of the horse you wish to back and in which race
e.g. £5 to win on number 5 in race two.
NB: At time of
going to press the minimum bet size on the Tote is £2
Refunds / Abandoned Racing

unwanted badges or tickets in exceptional circumstances. In the event of
racing being abandoned, refunds on tickets will be paid in the following
circumstances:

be no refund but the racecourse executive will allow badges/tickets for
that day to be presented at the turnstiles at any of the running
meetings in that year.
